Parkside Middle School will begin a transition to Canvas, a student learning management system, beginning on Monday, May 4th.  Canvas will allow students to access each of their unique set of classes and find their course content in one location.

How do I login to…                            

  • PKMS Webpage/School Messenger: https://parksidems.pwcs.edu  (only use username (your Office 365 email address, do not include the @pwcs.edu part) and password (the one use use to log into the school computer and Office 365) for login to SLMS, this is where you see your class information)
  • Office 365 login: https://login.microsoftonline.com(use full email address and password for login)
  • ParentPortal: https://parentportal.pwcs.edu (username: is student ID number / password: student 8 digit birth-date, unless changed by student)

September - Instrument Selection, distribution, Care, Maintenance & First Sounds 

October - Tone production

Nov/Dec/Jan- Fundamentals of reaching music (literacy, notation)


February - CONCERT!

Mar/Apr- Continued building of literacy fundamentals & tone production at the individual level. Introduction of ensemble skills. 

May- CONCERT!

 

 

7th GR ADVANCED will be learning:

August – Instrument Distribution & Contracts

September – Review of Music Fundamentals (tone production, literacy, musicianship, ensemble skills)

Oct / Nov – Improving and expanding musical vocabulary, technique, literacy and musicianship. Includes introduction of scales, rudiments, contrasting articulation, dynamics, new time signatures.

Nov – CONCERT!

Dec / Jan / Feb / Mar / April - Improving and expanding musical vocabulary, technique, literacy and musicianship. Focus shifts towardsensemble skills during this time.

May – CONCERT

8th Grade ADVANCED will be learning:

August – Instrument Distribution & Contracts

September – Review of Music Fundamentals (tone production, literacy, musicianship, ensemble skills)

Oct / Nov – Improving and expanding musical vocabulary, technique, literacy and musicianship. Includes additional scales, contrasting musical styles, phrasing, intonation, balance, articulations and vertical alignment.

Nov – CONCERT!

Dec / Jan / Feb – District Assessment preparation. Students are expected to perform cumulative knowledge of concert music at an individual and ensemble level.

March – District Assessment Concert

March / April - Improving and expanding musical vocabulary, technique, literacy and musicianship. Includes additional scale octaves, contrasting musical styles, phrasing, intonation, balance, articulations, vertical alignment and new time signatures.

May – CONCERT
