Parkside MS 2016-2017
Pilar Vasconez U.
Spanish 1A/ESOL teacher
A little about me:
I'm from Ecuador, South America. I was born in Biblian a small city in the high lands of Ecuador. Then I lived for more than 14 years in Cuenca where I finished high school, got my University degree in English Language and Literature, and my master degree in English Language and Applied Linguistics. I have taught English back in Ecuador for 5 years, and this is my second year in Parkside MS. I like teaching foreign languages. I truly believe that learning a language gives you freedom to express yourself and to communicate with others. I love dancing, specially Latin music. I like exercising and learning new things.
In order to master level 1, we will be doing a lot of practice which will be called homework or/and classwork. Depending on the topic, this practice will be online or paper based. The grades for this practice will show the mastery of language targets. Even though they will not receive a grade for the grade book, you will be able to see them as part of information items. It will be mandatory to meet due dates for homework/classwork.
Reading and Reading and Reading:
You're welcome to bring your own Spanish books to read in the classroom. You will also find some Spanish books to read here. You will not always understand all words but you will start getting used to read in Español.
Devices will be used only for educational purposes in the classroom.
