Hello,       The students continue to hear the words focus and give effort as the lessons continue to support knowledge for next year. The students are also hearing the words of focus and to give effort as they show their present level of knowledge with one-on-one and individual opportunities in the tutorial setting. This week we are working on decoding, reading comprehension, written expression, math calculation and reasoning using this years lessons. The students and I will continue to work with a purpose.  We thank you for the ongoing support and communication.

Hello,      In the math class attention to detail is important as student use the lessons that connect while completing the circle project. Students are using the skill of the turning data of how they spend their day into fractions, decimals and percents to create a circle graph. Students have a reminder to give attention to detail for calculation and that neatness is part of the grade. We continue to monitor and to prompt critical thinking skills to recall the procedural steps and to reflect their thoughts in the assignment. The support continues as students have a need of an increase in reminder that learning continues, to come to class prepared, and to give effort toward the teacher given tasks. We appreciate any support that will keep the students motivated while we work to have the students show their accurate level of knowledge when completing tasks.      In tutorial to support the motivation of students, we continue to work on listening skills and following directions to increase the attention span of the students when they enter the General Education setting. We will also continue to review the areas of reduced connections when  the students are working on their individual calculation and reasoning. I look forward to the continued focus and working to completion with each task.

Hello,       We appreciate and thank those that serve or support those that protect our country in any military capacity. We will continue to encourage students to use their listening skills and to follow teacher directions for assignments through practice activities. Students continue to have encouragement to show their level of knowledge on concepts that they have reduced recall for in tutorial and Math class. Learning continues as the last progress has collection for the final progress report. Students should have delivered the interim and the progress report. Students have a reminder to come to class prepared and to continue adhering to and following the code of behavior expectations.

Hello,      Thank you for the support as students showed their level of knowledge on the Standards of Learning (SOL) test.  I am reminding students that learning continues in the classroom setting and effort is still a requirement. Students are working on reviewing the skills of conversion with fraction, decimal and percent and placing the percent data into a circle graph. Students continue their learning in the math environment with a circle project that will be completed in the classroom. The students are reviewing how to make fractions and to convert the fractions to a decimal and percent. The data will have use when making the circle graphs.      We thank you for the continued support and reminders for students to give effort in the classroom setting and to make school based choices in the hallways.

Hello,      The students have been working on a Packet #1 for the last two weeks. Some may have completed the packet. For those students they are working on packet #2. The first packet is the priority to review because of the guide for each concept (objective) at the top of the page. The Math SOL date is 17th and 18th which is one day earlier than previously stated.      We continue to remind students to come to class on time, prepared, and to give effort as we review previous lessons and teach the remaining objectives. We are also sharing that the lessons will continue after completion of the SOL. Please remind students to maintain a growth mindset as the opportunities to enrich their knowledge and show progress continues.

Hello,      Mr. Boynton was absent 5/9/17. The students had a review for the concept of Patterns on 5/10/17. The students will have an opportunity to show their level of knowledge on Patterns for the quiz on 5/11/17.

Hello,      As the students continue to learn,  the lesson for today was refresher for patterns and an extension with the labels of Geometric (multiply and divide rule) and Arithmetic (add and subtract rule). The students also will work with patterns that do not fit either category. The students will also have reinforced lesson for reading and making circles. The concept of a circle representing 100% will be repeated along with the reminder to convert fractions and decimals data to percents. Please see the calendar for the notes and practice opportunity.

Hello,      We will continue to work for student to have a growth mindset. The pencil request have increased and the check for understanding requires an increase in wait time. We will continue to support and encourage the students to practice the concepts as we complete new concepts and review the connection lessons. This week we will review conversion of  going from a fraction to a decimal to a percent in connection with making and reading circle graphs.

Hello,      Students are learning about probability and using estimation skills to share the likelihood of an event occurring. Students are reviewing ratios and simplifying fractions. The students will need to give attention to detail when reading word problems to connect multiplication to and along with connecting addition to or when compound events occur. The students also are learning the difference between theoretical and experimental probability.
